This GHG verification procedure can be divided into three scopes:

Scope 1 - Direct Emissions: Equipment owned or operated by an organization, such as boilers, furnaces, and vehicles, are the source of direct GHG emissions. There are also fugitive emissions, which may occur from places like damaged refrigerant systems or pipelines carrying natural gases.

Scope 2 - Indirect emissions: This scope takes into account GHG emissions caused by the company's usage of purchased electricity. Purchasing or importing electricity from a power plant into a company's infrastructure, where scope 2 emissions are generated as an indirect source of pollution.

Scope 3 - Other indirect emissions: Scope 3 includes all emissions that emerge from an organizational activity but are not owned or controlled by the organization. This scope integrates several sources, including employee commuting, business travel, third-party distribution and logistics, manufacturing of purchased goods, and emissions from sold products.

ISO 14064 - 2 (Validation and verification of emissions)

ISO 14064-2 is the foundational standard for the implementation of an emission reduction initiative. To find ways to cut down on your scope 1, scope 2, and/or scope 3 emissions, you need to establish an emission reduction project. Here comes the role of these ISO 14064 experts, they can provide both project plan validation (before execution) and emission reduction verification (after implementation).
