Identifying Markets For Recyclable Dry Solid Waste In Maharashtra

Client: National Solid Waste Association of India

The study attempts to address the issues and challenges faced by the ULBs in recycling their dry waste by identifying the potential markets for the segregated and recyclable dry waste and suggesting a sustainable revenue generating
model for the ULBs.


The study also gives a strong database on the quantity and type of waste each of these industries can accepts viz-a-viz location of ULBs within the radius of 10 km, 20 km and 30 km of the industry to which these ULBs can provide the dry waste.


The study uses GIS as a tool to spatially map the recycling industries of various types of dry waste and the ULBs all over Maharashtra. GIS is further used to understand the accessibility of potential waste takers around each of the ULBs by using proximity analysis tool.


The study has been conducted by using various research methods both primary and secondary collection methods such as questionnaires / interviews to various stakeholders such as Urban Local Bodies, regulatory bodies, recalling
industries, scrap dealers etc. and various government reports and research articles . The team has also made many site visits as per the requirement of the study.

The objective of the project is to study the current scenario of post consumed woven bags by conducting qualitative and quantitative surveys of post consumed woven bag waste throughout the supply chain of woven bags and to
explore the possibility of sustainable supply chain and further identify the existing technology and recyclers for the recycling of Woven bags.


Ÿ To identify various stakeholders involved in the supply chain of woven bags especially cement bags.

Designing of Processing Facility for Municipal Solid Waste Management at Bhavnagar

Client: MNC Energy Solution Pvt. Ltd, Mumbai

MNC Energy Solutions Pvt. Ltd. is entrusted in setting up a Municipal Solid Waste (MSW) processing plant for converting waste to energy in Bhavnagar city. The city is located in the Bhavnagar district of the Saurashtra region of Gujarat. Its present population is 6,43,365 with an area of 108.27 sq.km.  The project is based on the Bio-methanation process/Gasification, which is considered most suitable for Indian conditions due to the higher moisture content in Indian waste.

Imbyzmo’s specific task was to design a layout plan of a processing facility of 8 acres of land for the site near Kumbharwada STP at Bhavnagar. The layout plan is designed according to the MSW Rules of 2016 and has two separate zones for Material Recovery Facility (MRF) and Waste to Energy Plant (WtE). A detailed Material Recovery Facility (MRF) along with the truck circulation and the other operating processes was designed.
