The material pieces are nipped and pass between the rollers without slippage, ensuring efficient crushing. The desired material size and output rate can be achieved by adjusting the gap between the rollers. The size reduction ratio per pass is between 1:4. Production rate and energy consumption can be influenced by changing the reduction ratio and differential roller speed. Various roll designs, such as smooth, grooved, or water-cooled (for hot materials), are available to meet specific requirements. The angle of nip varies depending on the operation.
