However, one common method mostly used in almost every part of the world involves mass burning of municipal solid waste. The waste is burnt in a large incinerator that has a boiler that produces steam, and a generator that produces electricity.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\" id=\"block-736d840e-6551-4915-87c5-35973ea5c9c0\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/mwsblog.s3.us-east-2.amazonaws.com\/mwsblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/23143916\/Webp.net-compress-image-1.webp\" alt=\"Generating waste o electricity process\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">How waste to electricity is generated (Source: Ecomaine)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"block-a83d4533-dd44-4624-bdb0-c0b7aea5332a\"><strong>Generating waste into electricity in mass-burn WTE plants is much straightforward and follow 5 simple steps:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol id=\"block-ba286695-b2e2-41b9-9097-559ffaca1f49\">\n<li>The MSW collected from several sites is dumped in a receiving area using a garbage truck, where it is more thoroughly mixed in preparation for combustion.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Mixed waste is deposited into a combustion chamber using a giant claw attachment.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The waste now becomes the fuel and starts burning which in return releases the heat.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The heat released from burning mixed waste is now used for turning the water in the boiler into high-pressure steam.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The steam helps in rotating the turbine generator\u2019s blades which produces electricity.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"block-526d0f59-8ad8-4a03-a4ac-ca05471f5696\">WTE plant incorporates a control system to prevent air pollution by removing pollutants from the combustion gas before it is released through a smoke-stack. Moreover, the unburned remains of combustion which is also known as bottom ash are separated using a magnet and eddy current separators.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"block-a675c437-5865-4013-9edc-8ae43f1ee4bb\">This helps in removing both ferrous materials such as steel and iron along with other materials that include aluminum, copper, etc. for recycling. Despite the fact that it is generating enough electricity to keep the town bright at night it can also produce methane for cooking and other applications.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400; color: #000000;\">It is only up to us to utilize the waste generated in a proper and useful manner, no matter the type of a waste. WTE plants are one of the most efficient ways for waste to electricity generation. Setting up more WTE plants will not only help generate electricity which is much in need for the country but also reduce the waste volume significantly. Moreover, it will also reduce the necessity of landfills.
